Bicycling each leg through the normal range of motion twice a day. We are doing 30 repetitions per session.
Stimulating the paws
Tickling, massaging and squeezing the paws, making sure to get in between the pads. This stimulates Ben and also helps him to become aware of his paws and what sensations feel like.
Massage
Massaging the legs to improve circulation and for general well being and interaction.
ResistancePressing gently on the bottom of the paw so Ben resists and pushes back, again this helps him to be aware of what his paws are doing.
Weight bearing
Puting Ben in a normal standing position and allowing him to support his own body weight.
Placing the paws
Placing Ben's paws correctly with the pads in the correct position, also doingthis if Ben is satnding and his paws knuckle over and he does notcorrect them himsel
These are all exercises we were shown by either nursing staff or vets at the hospital, again it is important to check with your own vet what is suitable for your own dog. This page is here to demonstrate how simple things can make a big difference. And hopefully these exercises will help Ben gain strength and coordination.
