Ben the dog and his Spinal Injury

One of the main areas of confusion for my mum was the fact I had obviously experienced a major malfunction somewhere in my spine and as she was with me all the day it happened and the 2 days prior to it.  I had not shown any signs of pain or of injury so she could not understand what had happened.

After asking the vets and looking around for information there are a few reasons for spinal injury in dogs occurring.  The following is a list of some of the common causes:

Trauma - this can be major e.g.a road accident or very minor e.g. falling off a sofa or landing the wrong way after a jump

Canine Intervertebral Disc Disease - this is a condition which affects many dogs and the physiological changes etc are far too complex for me to explain here so if you wish to find out more I would advise entering the term into a search engine
