August 2009

Well August has flown by and it's been a good month all round.  The accupuncture has really been helping me and mum and dad have taken me to the beach lots to help me with my walking.  Mum was told by the man in Texas thats help animals with rehabilitation that walking on sand is good for me has it helps me to be aware of where my paws are going and what they are doing and it also strengthens the muscles.  The vet who does the accupuncture says she notices a difference in the way I stand and that she is pleased with how I am progressing. me, I am just glad to be allowed to run around again, though sometimes I do too much and I get tired and a wee bit lame (well I drag my back legs because they are tired) and mum gets all worried that I have hurt my back again!

Mum and dad took me on holiday to a group of Islands called theHebrides for a week and a bit and it was brilliant (see the video of it here - scroll down the page a bit!!) there was loads of new smells and beaches that went on for miles and miles, and clear sparkling water, its a shame the sun didn't shine more for mum and dad but I had a great time running on the beach and going for long drives in the car, gettingbits of steak and chicken and meeting lots of new people.  The 1st hotel mum and dad stayed at was at Lochmaddy and it was really nice and there were lots of nice people who made a fuss of me.  Mum and dad spoke to a nice couple from Leeds and their friends from Sheffield. Turns out that Neil and Gill, the couple, play in a band called Timberwolf, and they do charity concerts in Sheffield to raise money for support dogs - a charity there.  They were lovely people and made such a fuss of me.  And their 3 friends were really nice to me too and one of  them, John, saved me steak from his tea!!  The beaches were great fun and I want to go back again - soon!!

Mum says that I still walk funny and that my back legs kind of rotate rather than go in a nice straight Gait she took a picture as I "scuff" my back paw and drag it, so she is going to show the accupuncture vet to see if she can help me overcome that

I am not fussed about the fact I drag my nails, but mum, being mum, is worried I might catch the nail and rip it and she says that will be sore, I am happy to run like this though as at least I can run again big grin

The 2nd hotel we stayed in at Loch Erisort was great as the bar man made such a fuss of me when mum and dad were playing pool.  I have no idea what thats all about, they put the balls in things called pockets I can't work out why they don't want to chase the balls?? roll

Then we went to Skye, mum and dad seem to like going there, its a shame there aren't more sandy beaches there for me as I love the sand but we stayed in a hotel run by a lovely lady who gave me chews and made such a big fuss of me, she used to have her own dogs but doessn't now , she has two cats but they weren't as friendly as my sister and hissed at me, I was only trying to give them kisses.

Thats August update - see you all in September!!
